A Camping Lantern Works Both Ways

When going camping it’s important to be sure you bring all of the supplies you’ll need.  Most people think of the big things, like a camping sleeping bag and a tent.  While those things are important, it’s also important to try and think of other things you’ll need that might not come immediately to mind.  For example, a camping lantern can really help to make a camping trip much more comfortable and give you the peace of mind that you are safe as possible.

Obviously, a camping lantern is designed to give you light in the dark. If you’re staying at a campground with communal bathrooms, a camping lantern can be a life saver if you have to go.  You don’t want to stumble through the woods late at night in the pitch black.  You also want to be able to warn other campers that you’re approaching.  There is little scarier than having someone sneak up on your camp at night while they’re trying to get to their own camp or another destination.  Having a lantern will allow other campers to see you as you’re approaching.

The light can also act as a beacon in some situations.  For example, if you were lost in the woods and waiting for help, having a bright light lit will help potentional rescuers see you more clearly.  The light it gives off can also scare off potential predators.  Most animals, both large and small, are afraid of fire and bright burning lights.  It can also help you to avoid stumbling upon a predator in the dark or even a beehive.  Being able to see where you’re going will always make you safer. Remember to bring a camping lantern.
